How to Maintain your Cosplay Wig

If you’re an active Cosplayer, you will probably have spent quite a bit on your get-up and wig. Follow these useful steps in caring for your wig.

Wear it right: Directions when using wig

1. Always keep the wig in its net.
2. Adjust carefully, do not tug or pull your wig too hard.
3. Use a hair roller to separate the strands of the wig.
4. Rather than combing, use your hands when trying to smooth strands on the wig.

Maintenance: Directions to clean

1. In a sink, wash your wig with a mild detergent. Do not use strong detergent such as dishwashing liquid.
2. Rinse the wig in warm water for about 10 seconds. Do not wring the wig.
3. Use a soft towel to dry the wig.
4. Air drying is highly recommended, but if you’re in a rush to use the wig, you can dry it with hair dryer on a low setting.

Last, but not least:

1. Always buy the appropriate products to care for your wig. These include a wig brush, cleaner and holder.
2. Always clean or brush the wig from the ends and not from the roots.
3. Store the wig in an enclosed area and on a wig holder.
4. Do not wash your wig frequently.
5. To resolve any issues with the hair on your wig, cover the wig in a heated soft towel for a few seconds, remove and then gently brush it to work out the kinks.
