Men's Fashion Week Singapore

Globetrotting fashionistas now have another not-to-be-missed destination on their itinerary, Singapore. It’s time to ditch those flip flops and bermudas once and for all as we herald the arrival of the inaugural Men’s Fashion Week (MFW) 2011 from 30th March to 3rd April this year, held for the first time in Asia, and only the third in the world (after Paris and Milan).

This five-day fashion extravaganza will showcase the Autumn/Winter 2011 collections of up to 15 renowned brands from Singapore, the Asian region and internationally including Canali, Hugo Boss, Emmanuel and Raoul .

With the first press conference that was held at Ion Sky on the 55th level already sending members of the media into dizzy fashion heights, imagine the fashion frenzy come the curtain raising gala show on 30th March.

Sending the summer temperatures rising throughout the event will be style maestros and fashionistas that we are all too familiar with.

First up is our favourite celebrity hair stylist and hair guru to the stars, David Gan, on the creative styling panel. Lending his name to such an initiative for the first time, he will be styling the MFW 2011 Singapore Campaign images, applying his unique touch of panache to this exciting event.

Also, MFW 2011 will feature one of Asia’s most sought-after fashion and lifestyle event producers, Daniel Boey as the Creative Director. Having worked on some of the most publicised fashion shows around the world for Tiffany, Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Loewe, G-star and more, he brings inspired, cutting-edge and groundbreaking ideas to the runway.

Moving from the back of the camera to the front, three of the most recognizable, and need I mention, fashion forward men in this region will be representing the “face”, “voice” and “heart” of  the landmark men’s fashion event.

Appointed the “face” of MFW 2011 Singapore, Asian male supermodel, Philip Huang, the first Asian male model to have broken the race barriers and ascended the fashion ladders of Paris, Milan and New York to supermodel status.

Two more familiar faces are Utt and Julian Hee. The “voice” of MFW 2011 Singapore, style icon Utt will be the host of all the principal MFW events and represent the close relationship between music and fashion that is representative of the creative world today. Julian Hee will of course, represent the “heart” of MFW 2011 Singapore. Born and bred in Singapore, this model-turned-actor-turned-fashionista will be collaborating with the Creative Director Daniel Boey to curate the collections presented by young cutting-edge designers.

With MFW 2011 Singapore, the stage is set for Singapore to step up as the region’s fashion hub and the go-to country in celebration of men’s fashion but the question remains, are you ready?
