Perfect Coverage
Beauty — By 88DB Knowledge on April 6, 2011 9:28 amUnless you have perfect skin you are probably like most of us and need a little help achieving cosmetic perfection. There are many options out there in the makeup world to help with this quest. From lighter-than-air tinted moisturizers that offer just a light veil of coverage to heavier formulas that cover everything- there is truly something for everyone!

Here are some hints to keep in mind when searching for your *perfect* primer, foundation, concealer and powder:
- know your skin type (oily, dry, normal), and if you have special concerns (dark circles, acne scars, active break outs, hyper pigmentation, rosacea)
- make a list of your coverage needs as well as formulas you would like to try, then visit your local makeup counter for expert help
- when trying any base makeup remember to wait at least 30 minutes before finalizing your decision – foundations, concealers and powders can all oxidize on the skin making them turn darker/orange than when they were first applied
- primer can be your friend or enemy- get one that works well with your skin type- there is a myriad of formulas out there including ones that are silicone/paraben free for those that have very sensitive skin
TESTING is the key but, once you have found your dream complexion perfecting products you will need some tools to help make application easy and flawless. Some people prefer to use a foundation brush or sponge while others just use their fingertips. When applying any makeup hygiene is very important. Dirty brushes/sponges are a breeding ground for bacteria (breakout city). Clean those brushes and sponges regularly and if you have an active breakout- apply product with a cotton swab or a disposable applicator. This will help reduce contaminating your product with bacteria.
When applying primers, foundations, concealers and powders- start with a light hand and build your canvas. It’s easy to add a little extra than to pile it on and look cakey or greasy. NO MATTER WHAT THOUGH, REMEMBER the fresh natural look is always in style.
